Bomber Command
The 125,000 volunteers of RAF Bomber Command came from all corners of the Commonwealth to serve and oppose Nazi oppression. Men and women from America, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Zimbabwe fought and died together to defend the free world and to take the fight to the heart of the enemy. In so doing they were crucial in turning the tide and winning World War II for the allies.
But victory came at a price. Of the thousands of Bomber Command aircrew who took to the skies, more than 55,000 gave their lives and the average age of the aircrew was just 22.
The memorial at Hyde Park Corner, London, will be a permanent recognition to those who gave everything so we could be free. You can help ensure the success of this project by making a donation today – DONATE NOW.
